Sand Filter Media

Sand Filter Media

NOT ALL FILTER SANDS ARE CREATED EQUAL!

Filter Sand has been formed from a natural glacial deposit formed millions of years ago. Our Filter Sand resource is comprised of over 500 acres of sand and gravel to a depth of 110 feet. Once dredged, all of our filter sand is processed through a state of the art hydraulic classification plant for cleaning (triple washed) and pre-sizing. Then it is dried and sized to your specifications by sending it over a series of vibrating screens with effective sizes and uniformity coefficients guaranteed.

High quality filter sand requires the proper angularity, hardness, sphericity and size. Our Filter Sand meets or exceeds all of these requirements which increases the holding capacity of the media. It also improves efficiency by reducing retention time and head pressure loss with greater flow rates. Ongoing quality control testing starting with the production process through to shipment ensures our media meets your specifications for uniformity coefficient and effective size.

Packaging is available in bulk, 50lb bags, 100lb bags, 3000lb super sacks or 4000lb super sacks shipped via truck, rail or river barge. All of our Sand is AWWA B100-01 (latest edition) approved and certified under NSF (ANSI) Standard 61.
